What is the cheapest graphic card available for HQ gaming?

N&N

I like Nvidia more than the ATI series.I want a graphic card in the price range of $75 - $200 but please make it the cheapest you can find.It doesn't have to be a SLI and I would like it if the graphic card can run games in the latest generation like Crysis on High(not highest) or Grand Theft Auto IV. Thanks

If you really want the cheapest, I'd get a 9800gt. I have a 9800GT and I can play Crysis on very high with 20-25 FPS during simple stages. Thus, I would assume it could play Crysis on high easily. I did, however, add a Zalman vf900 ($40) heatsink to it because the stock fan was too loud. Before replacing the heatsink, Crysis on very high had sub-20 frame rates and on high it had sub-30 frame rates.

If you're willing to spend more, you can get the GTS 250. I would recommend the card above over many others because it has the Zalman vf1000 ($50) on it and it is factory overclocked. The Zalman fans tend to be much quieter than the stock fans of BFG, XFX, EVGA, and cool much better as well. A cooler video card results in a more overclockable and faster video card. It would be able to play Crysis at very high easily.

The 9800GT and the GTS 250 are the two main cards of the $75-$200 price range. The 9600GT is nearly the same price as the 9800GT and it's not as good. The 9800GTX+ is nearly the same price as the GTS 250, and it's essentially the same, but just older. If you want to spend even more you can get the GTX 260, but if you wanted to spend that much you might as well wait for DX11 Nvidia cards.

Do note that, however, at this moment ATI cards are the best as Nvidia has not released it's DX11 cards. The ATI 5770 is below $200, is better than the GTS 250, and it's DX11. This means it can play future generation games.

If you're really sensitive to noise, take a look at it's fan. If the fan has vertical fins, it will tend to be noisy. Most people don't find that to be a problem, but it's quite noticeable for me in a quiet room.

So, to sum it up, if you HAVE to get Nvidia, get a 9800GT if you want to get a sub-$100 card, or a GTS 250. Don't get a 9800GT for $120 as it is outperformed by the GTS 250 in many ways. Ideally you should get an ATI 5770 (or wait for cheaper DX11 cards).
