What is the Moscow Olympic Games?

Violet

Answer
Summer Olympic Games that took place in Moscow,USSR from July 19 till August 3.Games of the XXII Olympiad. President Leonid Brezhnev officially opened the games and Misha the bear was the mascot.

The Moscow Olympic Games are mostly known for the political boycott led by United States, President Jimmy Carter, and many other countries allied with USA. Protesting the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan December 1979. Governments of Great Britain and Australia where in support of boycott, but they gave their athletes the option of going to the games where they had to march under the Olympic flag.

As a result of this boycott the number of participating nations was 80, the lowest since 1956. USSR dominated the Olympics winning 195 medals 80 of which where Gold as the next closest country was East Germany (GDR) 47 Gold and a total of 126 medals while Bulgaria came in 3rd with 8 Gold and a total of 57 medals.

Games still went on and they included the following highlights.

Soviet male Gymnast Aleksandr Didtyatin won 8 medals in one Olympic game. He won gold in the team event the individual all-around event and the rings. Silver medals in the vault, parallel bars, fixed bar and pommel horse. Bronze in the floor exercises.

Vladimir Salnikov ,USSR, was the first time any swimmer had swum the 1,500m in under 15 minutes.

Sebastian Coe ,GB Athletics, won the 1,500m in thrilling fashion. Six days earlier he would win the silver in 800m losing out to his fellow country man Steve Ovett. , who would win the bronze in the 1,500m.

Nadia Comaneci the Romanian Gymnast came back to the 1980 Olympic where she won 2 individual gold medals in balance beam and floor exercises, but was not able to repeat her all-around victory in 1976 games as she came in 2nd with a silver medal. She would also win a silver in the team all-around.

Women's Field Hockey would make its debut as an Olympic sport , but got off to an interesting start as all of its entrants except the Soviet Union withdrew their teams. Zimbabwe would win the gold a team that was only put together 1 week before the start of games and rushed to Moscow.

Lastly in 1984 Los Angeles Olympic games the Soviet Union retaliated along with 14 other nations , Eastern Bloc allies, boycotted the games in protest of what they said was over-commercialization of games, inadequate security and anti-Soviet attitudes by the US government.

Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto V is a major Overhaul of the sick overrated Embarrassment that Grand Theft Auto IV was, the game alone is a masterpiece with an unbelievable amount of content all in beautiful detail. The Three Unique Main Characters keep the Game fresh, which is also helped by Heists, Variety in Main Missions, Side Activities and Random Events. Free Roam Gameplay is enjoyable as well, which is helped by the Terrific Score done in the game and the fact that Rockstar Overhauled issues in Grand Theft Auto IV such as The Combat/Cover system, Driving mechanics, Mid-Mission Check point, Jump & Climbing Controls, Police & Collision Detection. But, The Storyline is a tad bit lack. Not of the quality of Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption, Max Payn 3 and L.A Noire, but still an overhaul compared to Grand Theft Auto IV. When I Reviewed Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto V, I gave it an Nine out of Ten and it is well worth your purchase.

Do Not Purchase Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV, It Is A Waste Of Money.

My Review on Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV:

- Broken Combat/Cover system; The Gamer hits the Cover button once to get into cover, but then as The Gamer attemps to move along whatever cover The Gamer's taken, the system often randomly interprets that movement to mean The Gamer want to switch cover entirely. Rather than sneaking along a wall to ambush an unsuspecting enemy, the mechanic can read the movement as The Gamer wants to break cover, run two feet to a fire hydrant and crouch behind it while bullets rain into The Gamer. leaving The Gamer to die, the entire Cover Mechanic is up to Niko's better judgment whether he'd like The Gamer to moves further down the alleyway like intended, or jogs across the street in a hail of gunfire to die.

- Broken Driving mechanics: The Gamer will slide around like everything is black ice; sad when a game named Grand Theft Auto which is the law for jacking a vehicle doesn't get the Driving Mechanics down right. Not to mention the game forces The Gamer to use the driving mechanics repeatedly, in near to every mission in the game; plus tosses new driving mechanics that don't work without any regard.

- Zero Mid-Mission Check point; If a mission requires the gamer to drive across town after receiving a cellphone mission to enter a warehouse, kill Russian mobsters within, Precisely take out one of them before they shoot Roman, Wait for Roman to get in the car, and Escape a level three wanted level, the gamer shouldn't have to redo this entire mission if their aim is off or The Gamer hits one of the explosive cans outside the warehouse. That's just shoddy design, and there's no justifying that.

- Broken Jump & Climbing Controls; There is an uncertainty with the Jump & Climbing mechanic. the gamer has to continuously wonder: Is Niko going to just step over this curb, or is the gamer going to get caught jogging in place alongside it? If the gamer hits the button now, does that mean hop over that guardrail, or leap in front of that speeding bus? Does pressing jump actually mean jump, or does it mean vault over the safety railing and fall to certain death.

- Relentless Police: Tapping a police car can gain The Gamer two stars, which is already near as impossible to escape.

- Broken Collision Detection: Collision Detection could either mean a car barely hits The Gamer and The Gamer is not phased or The Gamer starts doing the hula without any control as to stopping.

I don't know how exactly Grand Theft Auto IV earned a Ten out of Ten, personally I rated it at a generous Three out of Ten score.
