My little brother and I were having a conversation about what would an ultimate offensive baseball feat should be like and I brought this up. I can't find anything online or I'm not trying enough. So, if any of you baseball gurus can help us out, you're help wil be highly appreciated.
Answer
No. Not yet anyway. And besides, that's so over-the-top melodramatic.
Five World Series Games 7 have ended with a championship-winning hit (all games were tied at the moment):
1924 -- Washington's Earl McNeely doubles in the bottom of the 12th, Senators win, 4-3.
1960 -- Pittsburgh's Bill Mazeroski homers leading off the bottom of the 9th, Pirates win, 10-9.
1991 -- Minnesota's Gene Larkin singles in the bottom of the 10th, Twins win, 1-0.
1997 -- Florida's Edgar Renteria singles in the bottom of the 11th, Marlins win, 3-2.
2001 -- Arizona's Luis Gonzalez singles in the bottom of the 9th, Diamondbacks win, 3-2.
No posteseason game yet has ended with a grand slam. Only two postseason slams have been hit in the ninth inning (none in extras), and both were by the visitors in the top half (and curiously, both were in 1999).
Of course Ventura and the Mets blew MLB's first-ever walk-off slam when they mobbed him after he rounded first base... sigh. Silly happy Mets.
