Online Empire Building Games?

So, I've really started to like strategy games that inolve building an empire by gathering resources and expanding your territory.
I've been trying to find a game that makes you gather these resources (like wood, stone, iron/ore etc) to build buildings that do things like store and process the resources and things like house people and stuff. Also, build up an army and expand out your empire.
So, are there any online (either Mac compatible or in browser) games that fit this description?

The best match will be Starcraft and Age of empire online (not sure if AOE is MAC game cause it is released by Microsoft)
In both game you need to gather resource to build your own army. You can build building weapon defense and stuff. You will try to fight off or invade different clan on the map.
Be aware those games are addicted. It might take an hour or two to finished just one game
