Would you explain to me about the meaning of "game-changing"?

mango

I am a student learning English.
While reading an article, I came across a good expression, "game-changing".
According to an online dictionary, it means "critical".
However, I can't have a full grasp why it means that.
Would you explain to me?

----------------------------------------------------------------
game-changing (not comparable)

(sports or figuratively) Critical and having the potential to alter the overall outcome.
Our plan to transition from products to solutions is a game-changing moment for our company.

Answer
Game Changing basically refers to something that happened or occurred that completely changed the prior situation. When the online dictionary explained it as "critical" it meant that it was important, or that without it, the end result would be very different.

Here's an example:

The installation of a new general was game-changing for the US Army in the Civil War.

Basically, in this sentence, game-changing means that because a new general was hired, the entire end result of the War was changed.

How do the characters in Ender's Game change the world?

Answer
Yes, Ender saves Earth from the apparent threat of alien destruction. I'm pretty sure Ender's brother also takes over half of the world. As Locke and Demosthenes, Peter and Valentine (Ender's brother and sister) write blogs that hugely influence politics on earth and help catalyze a major shifting in political power. Valentine eventually leaves Earth, but Peter stays on as the "hegemon."

How much has the yugioh card game changed since the original yugioh series?

Jason

I recently started to get back into yugioh again. I just started playing again for the first time in five years with my brother. How much has the game changed since then.

Answer
A LOt. Basically they added tons of confusing stuff to the game....
synchro monsters- best way i can relate this to you is liek a ritual monster except you need the EXACT number of stars, and the monsters must be on the field. furthermore, you don't need a magic card for them, but a tuner monster and a non tuner monster. some might have special needs (like arcanite needs one spellcaster non-tuner)
tuner monsters- monsters required to synchro summon. normally 1-3 stars, and has a pretty good effect. says Tuner where it says the type of monster it is.
remove from play- remove from play is the new graveyard. if a card is in remove from play, most times, it's not coming back. some decks focus on removing most of your cards from play
graveyard- now basically a resource. it isn't uncommon for efefcts to activate in the grave, for monsters to be brought back, etc. so yeah, the graveyard is no longer the "no! it's sent to the grave!" threat it used to be...
decks- now normally have a specific purpose and make use of effects instead of the original "sumon the strongest monster and attack" strategy. some focus on stalling, others on making you draw so many cards you lose when you can't draw anymore, etc.
monsters- most monsters now have high attack and a good effect. look up cyber dragon for example
magics- now called spells. slightly mroe powerful and no longer really general things like "destroy a monster on the field with ___" field spells are also now more powerful, instead of "inc atatck and defense of ___ type monster" it's now... welll... look up magical citadel of endymion or dragon's ravine.
traps- not really that much of a change....
um that's basically it.... also chains will mindf*ck you till you explode. so yeah... enjoy :P
