So, interested in Game Design and I'm wondering which colleges would be a great place to start looking at. I've heard many different opinions on this, some say the University of Southern California, other's say Vancouver Film School (although that is in Canada unfortunately), and still more say Digipen. So which is truly the best place to go?

Game Design degrees get no respect â even from prestigious colleges. In any case, Game Design is going overseas, where talented game designers can be hired for $3/hr. You can't compete.
A much better strategy is to take a flexible degree in Software Engineering Technology, or similar, so that you have good training in diverse aspects of software design but can take a job in the gaming industry if one miraculously opens up.

ROFL!! These are mostly worthless for-profit scams lacking regional or programmatic accreditation..

What major would video game design and computer graphic design be listed under?
Q. Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this, but I don't know a better place. What would that major be considered? I want to get into video game design, animation, and computer graphic design, but I'm not sure what the proper term for that is called. Can someone please help me out? Thanks!

Along with everyone else - it's random. Depending on where you go - it is different things.
For what you want look at colleges like Fullsail in Florida, some of the Art Institutes, and Art Center in California. Make sure they have 3D modeling and programming.
Be careful with programs that are just "digital design" and stuff like that. These programs can be so random in what they teach you that you won't learn enough to get into game design. (I know this from being at University of Cincinnati with Digital Design majors who have not gotten enough 3D modeling to do what they were told they would be able to.)
Start looking at portfolios of some game companies you like and see what they require for an entry level position. Usually they are crazy high - but you may be able to find out what you need and choose a program from there.
