Metal gear solid games summary?

Connor

I am buying mgs4 and i need a summary of the previous games so i understand this one. I do not want to read pages and pages on wikipedia. can someone please give me a short and quick summery

Answer
Its hard to explain the story of the previous games, you'd have to play them yourself. You can buy and download Metal Gear Solid 1 (PS1 original) from the PS3's PSN Store for $10. The idea of going back and playing an old PS1 game may not exactly excite you but its the best game to use to introduce yourself to the series. The story was amazing, there are great characters, great villains, great plot twists, and amazing boss battles, some which will require you to think outside the box. I'm not sure if you know this or not but each Metal Gear game has A LOT of long cutscenes. So if you are one of those people who don't like games with almost as many cutscenes as there are actual gameplay then this is so not the series for you, but if you don't mind that then you'll see that this is easily among one of the best video game series of all time.

But if you want a really short summary of the story then here it is: It takes place 5 years after Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. Before you ask, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was a prequel. This is Solid Snake's or rather, Old Snake's (the main character of the series) Final Mission, however as it explains in the beginning he is aging rapidly due to being a clone of Big Boss (his and Liquid's father). Liquid Ocelot (or Liquid Snake) is the main villain of the series and he's out for world domination this time around. Snake's job is to stop his evil brother. Thats pretty much the main gist of the story, but there is so much more to the story that I can't explain it, it's best if you play the games for yourself.

I recommend buying the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (its $40 wherever you look) after playing Metal Gear Solid 1 and play it before MGS4 because MGS4 doesn't exactly do a good job of explaining the events prior to the game.

The HD Collection has 5 Metal Gear Solid games, I know it advertises only 3 games, but its technically 5 because Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater features Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake on its Main Menu. However both these games came out for the MSX in 1987-1990 so they are practically ancient by todays standards. So if you check them out and don't want to play them that's fine, but at least look them up on wikipedia and read the story of both games because the events of both games are canon to the storyline.

This is the storyline order of the Metal Gear Solid games:

1.) Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (1964)
2.) Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (1970)
3.) Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (1974)
4.) Metal Gear (1995)
5.) Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (1999)
6.) Metal Gear Solid (2005)
7.) Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (2007- 2009)
8.) Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots (2014)
9.) Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (2018)

MGS3 - MGS Peace Walker are prequels in which you play as Big Boss/Naked Snake, everything else is the main storyline, in which you play as Solid Snake, the series overall main character and Big Boss's son. MGS Ground Zeroes was announced a month ago and it will be a prologue to Metal Gear Solid 5, both will be prequels set after MGS Peace Walker and before the original MSX Metal Gear but MGS5 will be starring Solid Snake (that was confirmed by Hideo Kojima himself back in June). Ground Zeroes will most likely come out either 2014 - 2015 (unfortunately) and MGS5 will be on the Next - Gen consoles. And Metal Gear Rising (which comes out February 2013) is a Hack N Slash spinoff that stars Raiden, a character who was introduced in MGS2.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance comes out next year you should look into it if you like Hack N Slash games. I'll include a link to two trailers for it down below:

And here is the only (Japanese) Trailer for Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes coming out in the time frame of 2014 - 2015:

Sorry for the really long answer, I hope this helps. Basically, if you can, save MGS4 for last, buy and download MGS1 and MGS Portable Ops from the PSN Store and the MGS HD Collection, beat all the games (in they're storyline order) and then finally play MGS4. Because MGS4 is the concluding chapter of the series. Everything has lead up to the game, the story ends in MGS4.

Who will lose the World Series in 2013?

La Gata

Answer
I am actually part of a secret organization whose job is to stage professional baseball games. In reality, the World Series doesn't exist. Every single play is staged and carefully planned just as a movie. This is why tickets are impossible for people to get ahold of and the reason why they get "sold out" right away. They simply don't exist. People in the stands aren't fans who paid to watch the games, they are paid actors who act like they are enjoying a game and are strictly told to never release the secrets of the true business of Major League Baseball. So far we have World Series rigged up until 2015. I'm not really allowed to release this information, but I will for this one time only. The 2013 World Series will be the Detroit Tigers vs. Los Angeles Dodgers. Tigers will win. The 2014 World Series will be the Chicago White Sox vs. Philadelphia Phillies. White Sox will win. The 2015 World Series will be the New York Yankees vs. Cincinnati Reds. The Yankees will win. The workers of our organization are currently in the process of rigging further World Series.

Something else interesting about these rigged World Series is they will always end up as a 4 games to 3 win. Why? Simply because if there are more games, more people will watch on TV, making us more money. The reason why we don't always do this is just so people won't get suspicious and wonder why it's so coincidental. However, these next 3 World Series will end up that way.
