what time of year should game fish be stocked into a lake in England?
my lake is 12ft deep and around 3 acres in size, i want to stock it with game fish, and wanted to know how many fish of what size i could stock at one time, and what time of year i should stock it.
and before you ask, yes i have "googled it", but all results are for america.

Now is prime game fishing season in lakes across the UK. Can still stock fish now, however try to avoid days when the water is very warm. I assume your stocking rainbows and browns?
Generally most fisheries will stock their largest fish in the autumn. At this time of year there is abundant fly life, so the trout should have a good food supply during the transition of eating pellets to natural organisms.
Your lake sounds a good depth for trout as they can get lower to the bottom on the really hot days, i can't recommend how many fish to stock however, your best option would be to contact a fish farm and ask them how many fish are generally stocked in each size of the lake. If you intend to fish for these trout give them a week to acclimatise otherwise they will take almost any fly/bait thrown at them.
