i always play that game online and i see some people are driving with there miis instead of one of the characters. how do i do that?

There are two different outfits for your Mii you can unlock. One has a racing suit, and another is Mario overalls or Peach dress depending on your Mii's gender. To unlock the first outfit, win the 100cc Special Cup. To win the other outfit, you have to unlock all 32 of the fast staff ghosts.
